The Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa in Nevis really is luxury living on the beach. The Hamilton should re-think it’s name and consider Paradise Villas or Dream Villas because they are simply amazing.

I decided to go and explore sister island, Nevis, on my most recent Christmas and New Year visit to St Kitts in the Caribbean. After the most relaxing two night mini break on this beautiful island I am completely sold, Nevis is pure perfection and I have to go back!

2016 was another hectic and stressful year so naturally I had to have a mini break during my extended annual break. I normally stay with my Grandad far out from all the action in the country when I’m in St Kitts, so I jumped at the chance to stay in a hotel like set up right on the beach in Nevis.  I invited my mom Karen, my sister Cherelle and my cousin Elishah to join me for a relaxing getaway. I thought we needed to wind down before the real partying started at Carnival in St Kitts on New Years Eve.

Getting There

We set off around noon and spent $26EC each for the ferry from St Kitts town over to the smaller island of Nevis. The ferry runs daily with trip every few hours and only takes 45 minutes between the islands. When we arrived in Nevis taxis were lined up at the Port so we took a cab the 10-15 minute drive to The Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa. The Hamilton is located on the gorgeous Pinneys Beach just off a main road so it’s easy to find.

Home from Home

As we pulled up outside the reception building an attendant took our cases to our villa and directed us inside to check in. We were greeted with a smile (very important to me) and my paperwork was ready and waiting for me to sign, clearly they were expecting me. My favourite question was “what time do you want housekeeping done?”, I just love being spoilt!

The Hamilton also offer a private chef and room service but this has to be pre-booked by a certain time.  The front of house staff showed us to our villa and gave us a quick tour. We had a spacious two bedroom villa but one, three and four bedroom villas are also available at The Hamilton so they are family friendly good for larger groups. Being the social media addict I am, of course my main priority was the complimentary wifi code, this worked surprisingly well.

Our luxury villa came with a fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances you need including a blender, washing machine, tumble dryer and a food warming contraption. The fridge was huge, there were loads of cupboards and I’m pretty sure there were glasses to cover every type of alcoholic beverage you can think of from Champagne and wine to whisky and beer. I Immediately wanted to pop open the bubbly and start drinking and the kitchen was so amazing I really considered cooking. Obviously I didn’t cook as this was a holiday. The villa had air conditioning, various light settings from spot lights and lamps to full house lights and a dimmer, very romantic.

Our bedrooms had queen sized beds, they were actually really small but the two ensuite bathrooms and two balconies made up for it. The lounge area was huge and I loved the large dining table so it really felt like a “Home from Home”.

The real gorgeousness was our view from the main balcony overlooking the pool… I could look at that view all day everyday. I also enjoyed the outdoor dining too, you know I like being fancy so I had breakfast out there every morning.

We discovered we had access to the roof of our villa which presented jaw dropping views of the dormant volcano, Nevis Peak, the picturesque lagoon swimming pool and in the distance sweet sweet St Kitts. I could have stayed up there all day, in fact I should have but it was time to eat.

Unfortunately there isn’t a general or grocery store on site so we booked a taxi at reception and went to find food. The driver was the best, he took us to Lime Bar on the beach for an early dinner, waited for us and then took us to Rams, the local supermarket to get a few supplies, waited for us and then dropped us back at the villa. It would have been handy to have a shop on site because we felt under pressure to make sure we got everything we needed to make breakfast and snack on as Rams isn’t walking distance from The Hamilton.

Get me to the beach…

Day 2 was spent on Pinneys beach unfortunately dodging the rain. We didn’t take advantage of the on site water sports because the rain was on and off most of the day and the tide was a bit rough. I did ask Chris from reception for a pump for my inflatable gold swan (see the pics) and instead he collected my flat swan from our villa and re-appeared less than 15 minutes later with my inflated swan. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at The Hamilton.

During one of the longest rain showers we decided to make the most of the beach bar, Yachtsman Grill. Obviously I had a rum punch, I actually lost count of the amount of these I had in Nevis alone… We ordered take away pizza and fries later in the evening but be warned the kitchen closes at 9pm so no late night munchies at the Yachtsman Grill. When you convert the prices to pounds sterling the Yachtsman Grill is quite expensive for what it is so I would suggest leaving the resort for dinner and drinks.

Our final day was spent touring the island but I’ll post about this separately. Obviously the sun was shining and there wasn’t a rain drop in sight when we left The Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa, typical! Of course we made sure we took great pictures on the grounds, there is so much greenery and it’s just so beautiful and so peaceful. We really had the most relaxing time and now I want my house to look like our villa at The Hamilton. One of the best bits of the trip after the luxury villa and the views has to be not hearing anybody else when we were inside our villa, peace and quiet is a beautiful thing. The ladies in my group have good things to say about The Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa too;

“The Hamilton gave me the perfect time out and I embraced positive vibes only.” – Karen (my mom)

“I had a pleasant stay at The Hamilton in Nevis. The villa had a lovely view of the beautiful complex and the staff were helpful allowing my stay to be enjoyable and relaxing”. – Cherelle (my sister)

“It was a luxurious home from home, beautifully decorated in breathtaking surroundings.” – Elishah (my cousin)

Thank you for sharing this. Nevis is home from home for me. My mom started bringing me to the island from the age of 18 months and I know the island well. However, there is still so much to discover. I look forward to your post about your tour of the island. My cousin is visiting for the first time in the spring and I could do with some tips on where to take her as I mostly take advantage of eating and sunbathing with a book on the beach.

As I’ll be there in the spring so I will check out the spa and yoga sessions at The Hamilton.

    • Hi,

Thank you for reading and I’m glad you liked the post. Nevis is so beautiful and peaceful, I can’t wait to go back. The Nevis post will be up in the next few days. Definitely give the Hamilton a try, I’m sure your cousin will love it there too, let me know how you get on x
