This summer I stopped debating and second guessing myself and I finally invested in a pair of new Nike Cortez. I bought my first pair of Nike Cortez from schuh when I was about 16 years old. I was obsessed with denim so of course I needed denim trainers right?! They were my favourite trainers at the time, sadly I don’t even know what happened to them.

Nike Cortez were first released in 1972 during the Olympics and of course you’ll probably remember them from the iconic film Forest Gump. 44 years later, I’m so glad this classic style has made a big come back because I seem to have a thing for old skool kicks.

I was drawn to the bright blue Nike Cortez because they will look awesome on a sunshine holiday, they are great with denim and they are just really fun. Obviously I am going to get a few more colours, I’m thinking the black and the grey should be next as it’s winter. Wearing super brights, shorts and that bare leg bravery have to stop at some point now that it’s getting colder.

I teamed my Cortez with my denim oversized playsuit with the dramatic frill sleeves and cold shoulder detail. I decided to keep accessories to a minimum because the playsuit and the bright kicks are doing enough.

You can see how style up my trainers here.

Let me know what you think.
