My love affair with afternoon tea began when I moved to London and started working in PR. I am always looking for fun ways to catch up with fashion press for work and an afternoon out of the office with tea, scones, tiny sandwiches and sometimes champagne is my absolute favourite.

I decided to try an afternoon tea with a twist at the K West hotel and Spa. This hotel and spa is so rock and roll and super cool. The K West is less than a 5 minute walk from the Westfield shopping centre in White city but it doesn’t feel like you are in London. It’s close enough to hustle and bustle but tucked away so it feels quiet and relaxing.

Ok so it’s 4pm on a sunny Friday afternoon and I have just walked into the K-West hotel with my friend Caroline. The reception desk has a short queue, there are a few people at the bar and the music isn’t too loud so you can still hear yourself think.

We are given a quick tour of the hotel and the meeting rooms which could be the living space in a cool musicians house. Then we are taken up to the restaurant and shown to our table which had retro vinyl records for placemats and the most amazing mirror metallic tea set, I need this in my house! Naturally we had the Glam Rock Afternoon Tea and we started with the bespoke K West, Tea Rex blend.

The waitress explains the menu to us and I tell her I don’t eat beef so I wouldn’t need any of the beef sliders but she reassures me it will be ok and I can have chicken instead. Nothing is too much trouble and they really look after us. While we wait for the sandwiches and cakes to arrive Caroline and I have a good catch up and sip on the Tea Rex tea which is refreshing, sweet and has a little kick to it. We really like it and drink it all.

The Glam Rock Afternoon is no joke, it includes loads of savoury options, sweet treats like Panna Cotta, Truffle Lollies, Macaroons, Cherry Apples, old skool Swiss Roll and of course mini scones. When the 3 tier tower of loveliness arrives, we are given an explanation of what everything is and then we tuck into the hot pieces, the chicken and halloumi sliders first. By the time we have eaten the sliders and the cold options I am full but still manage to enjoy some of the sweets, it’s a hard life. Then they bring over more herbal tea options, 12 to be exact and we both choose the Bob Marley tea, just so I can tell my dad all about it.

I love that everything is themed on the menu and everything is really yummy. I also like that I am spoilt for choice so next time I visit the K West Hotel and Spa I can try something different.

Afternoon Tea really is a nice way to catch up with friends and pretend to be fabulous ladies who lunch daily. I absolutely recommend the Glam Rock Afternoon Tea at the K West Hotel because it’s a cool environment, the service was brilliant, it’s not ridiculously overpriced and the options are so tasty. I will be going back because I need to try all the other musical and retro inspired teas, 1 down 11 to go…

Big love to K West Hotel and Spa, thanks for a lovely Friday afternoon and the best start to the weekend.
