So this post is really late because it has taken me a while to come to terms with the fact that Dubai is over and my 30th birthday celebrations are over.
#WeekendWithDom is a new feature I am working on, I’ll go into more detail about fun weekends I’ve have in London or abroad. My first Weekend With Dom post invites you to Dubai with me and 5 of my It’s a Style Thing Squad.
Our trip was booked by the amazing Dawn at Your Holiday Needs and it was class all the way! We flew with Virgin Atlantic from London Heathrow and the flight was about 7 hours long. I took my ipad, books and magazines to keep myself entertained and of course I didn’t use any of them. We spent the whole flight, eating, drinking, napping and talking about life. It’s always the way when the squad get together especially as two of them live in Birmingham so we don’t see each other as often as I’d like.
We landed on Saturday morning local time and it was straight to the hotel, well I’m going to refer to it as my dream home because it was stunning and so comfortable. We had 2 balconies, and 5 bathrooms. You can read more about The Marriot Harbour Hotel and apartments here.
Normal people would shower and have a nap after travelling through the night but we showered and got all dressed up for brunch on the beach. We missed set brunch hours on the actual beach so we had an early dinner at Nasimi Beach Bar instead. I had the chicken wings to start and seabass to finish, it was incredible! I was so hungry I don’t even think I stopped for air. More details can be found here.
Then it was a struggle to get a cab back home, we should have just booked an Uber but the traffic leaving the Atlantis Resort was just crazy. Everyone left at the same time so it took forever to get back. When we did finally get back I would like to say I went out but while some of the squad made it to the hotel bar I had a nap and woke up too late to join them.
Sunday was my 30th birthday and I woke up to a house (the apartment) filled with balloons, banners and cake it was so sweet. We ordered room service for breakfast, the best room service I’ve ever had I might add and then it was time to hit the beach. We got a cab because waking in the sun is not an option.
Laying out on Jumeriah Beach with the sun beating down on you and your friends at your side is my idea of living! We ate again because thats all I seem to do on holiday, even the beach food, fish finger sandwich and fries, was tasty. After a few hours preparing the tan and feeling the sand between my toes it was time for the main attraction.
Yacht life was the only way I could celebrate my 30th in Dubai. Seriously, why wouldn’t I hire an Xclusive yacht and sail around Dubai for 3 hours? We drank way too much, we danced even more and I GOT MY LIFE the whole trip! At one point I sat and looked at my squad wearing surprise personalised Dashiki’s with my name and blog printed on them and thought, wow, I am so blessed. Read more here.
The party didn’t end on the yacht, it was back home to eat, shower and get glam for birthday drinks at Bar 44 at the Grovesnor House Hotel. Everything is high up in Dubai so of course you expect Bar 44 to be on the 44th floor with an amazing view of the night skyline. We were pretty exhausted by the time we got there so we just had a few rounds and headed home for a few more birthday drinks and then bed. You can find outfit details here
My birthday next year isn’t even going to come close to this experience but I am so glad my 30th was such an epic occassion. I did it in style because It’s a Style Thing all day everyday!
Let me know your thoughts,
Love Dom Dominique xxx
