SS16 PRESS DAYS: PART 1

Press Days are a big part of the fashion calendar and they generally happen 2-3 times a year for in-house brands and PR agencies. Press, bloggers, influencers, celebrities, stylists etc are invited to come and view the new season collection a few months before it lands online and in stores.

As I work in PR I know how stressful organising a press day is so I tried my best to go to as many as I was invited to. It felt strange to be on the other side for a change casually popping in and speaking to other PR’s. I now understand why fashion press can’t always make it to press days because there are so many on, they finish at different times and they are all over East and West London. It’s a serious mission trying to get to them all.

Because Press Days normally happen a few months before the new season I am sharing this post now as most items should be available or coming very soon.

Anyway here are some of the best bits from the PR agency press days I attended.

Radiator at The Hoxton Gallery

Radiator have so many brands I’m pretty sure I didn’t see everything. They do a lot of street and skate brands such as Zoo York, Eastpak and Starter. I think my favourite brand has to be Evisu. I remember when it was a thing a few years back and I am happy to see Radiator are bringing it back, it’s a great revival. So many grime artists are wearing the brand and making it cool again.

The team at Radiator were so lovely and gave me a full run down of all the key bits. They had the best bomber jackets too, I STILL have a thing for bomber jackets.

Coffin on Cake PR at their East London showroom

So I basically built a SS16 shopping list at this press day. From all the sunnies from Quay Australia which I now have, to the printed CAT boots, perfect for festivals and the coolest Stance socks collabs including Rihanna and Willow Smith. I now own a few pairs of Happy Plugs earphones and it’s great to see they are extending the range. If I was a super hot surfer babe I would be all over the printed Roxy collection too.

Wacoal at the Westbury Hotel

So obviously this was my favourite because I love the fact that lingerie and swimwear for bigger boobs is so exciting now. From my favourite brand Freya,  with all the new prints, brights and neons to prettiest pieces at Elami this press day gave me everything. I have more than half of the Freya Swim collection for my trip to Dubai next month and I work out in the Freya Active sport bra’s too. The team at Wacaol thought of everything from offering an expert bra fitting service on the day, a stunning venue and the best food and drink. This is definitely not one to be missed.

B Public Relations at the showroom in West London

I was running so late for this press day so I arrived about 10 minutes before it ended. This is what happens when you are trying to be super woman and go to 3 press days and a dinner meeting in the space of 2 hours. I really needed all day to take everything in at B as they had beauty, wellbeing and fashion across 2 floors. I didn’t even get a chance to pick a favourite because there was so much to see but I loved the new season Missguided heels. They had yummy Brownies too, food is always a good idea.

Disjointed Studios at the Truman Brewery

This is a shiny new agency and they have some of the coolest brands especially for gents. From Japanese tailoring to long-line bombers you would expect to see on Kanye to man bags and wallets that are super high end I fell in love with it all. My favourite brand has to be Been Trill and I am sure you can see why from my pics.

All in all I am going to be broke this season because SS16 is just too good! Mens wear is still my favourite with Been Trill at the top of my list. Of course you will see me in loads  of Freya swimwear on the next few trips I have planned so stay tuned.

What do you think? Have you got a new favourite brand of the season?
