Last night (Sunday 20th September) marked the 67th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. The stars of the small screen more than likely spent weeks and months with glam squads and stylists (the dream) preparing to walk the red carpet looking flawless.

Of course there were winners on stage and on the what might as well be the catwalk but I just want to take a fashion break to  acknowledge the historic and important achievements of Viola Davis, Regina King and Uzo Aduba. Viola Davis is the first black woman to ever win the Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series (How to Get Away With Murder) and her acceptance speech brought tears of joy, I actually shed a tear. You can watch it here

I love that Viola was able to name so many black actresses killing it in Hollywood. Her speech gave hope to so many women who don’t believe they can break the barriers and be acknowledged. Regina King won her first Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie (American Crime). Uzo Aduba won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Orange is the New Black). They made history last night and I am so proud of them along with all the women of colour nominated. You can view all the nominees and winners here.

Ok on to some fashion, here are 10 of my favourite looks from women who are giving me life right now!
