What: Who Taught You? Art exhibition
When: 23rd July 2015
Where: Gallery on the Corner, 155 Battersea Park Road, SW8
I would like to start by apologising because this post is so late. All I can say is life took over and July kicked my ass but I am back now!
Ok, so you should have seen my posts about this exhibition on social media and if you didn’t get involved you really missed out.
My friend Cherrelle and her team at Nubian Nights Out really put on a stunning photography exhibition showcasing the beauty that is, the black woman. The different sizes, shapes and personalities that embody the black woman made this event so special. Every photo told a different story and with everything that is going on in the world at the moment, it was just what I needed.
This exquisite display reminded me how powerful women are with their bodies, minds and souls. Who Taught You? Taught me how important it is to love your body, embrace it, own it and make no apologies for it. Some of the photographs showed women, my friend Cherrelle included pretty much naked and it looked like the photo had been taken just as they let go and exhaled, pure art.
To celebrate the black woman we ate ackee and salt fish canapés, washed them down with rum punch and finished off with banana mini cupcakes. Needless to say the food was GOOD!
If that wasn’t enough we were entertained by Omar, yeah THE OMAR, who had to sing his timeless classic, There’s Nothing Like This.
Thank you for a wonderful evening Nubian Nights Out, I’m so proud of you all and I look forward to the next event.
