IN MY COMFORT ZONE

My mom and my aunt arranged a surprise birthday dinner party for my Grandad who turned 80 earlier this month.  They managed to book the whole restaurant, bring in a steel pan player, balloons and decorations in the St Kitts flag colours to make their dad feel like he was back home in the Caribbean. Even the icing on his birthday cake was a St Kitts flag, my mom aka KG (Karen Gardiner) went in, she just loves birthdays. I won’t show you all the pics, this isn’t Facebook after all but I did post a few and a video of incredible steel pan player on Instagram.

Right, on to the outfit. Of course I had to think long and hard about this because I couldn’t wear my usual jeans and t-shirt or a mini dress or even my favourite  knicker- skirt and body top combo for my grandads 80th birthday could I?!  I wanted to wear something classy and respectful but staying true to myself and my style so I went for PRINTS!  Ok I admit it, I did kind of feel like I was wearing my pyjamas in this outfit and it felt great! I would like Monki to make more of these jumpsuits in more prints and more colours please.

This all in one has been patiently waiting in my wardrobe for the right event for about a month. I like to buy stuff even if I don’t have an occasion at the time. I decided to go for glam 70’s style platforms so it didn’t drag on the floor and my favourite simple gold accessories. Well my clutch isn’t exactly simple but I was in Birmingham so I had to use what I had packed.

I will be investing in more oversized jumpsuits like this because I could eat as much as I wanted on the day (cried about it the next day lol) and not feel any pinching, don’t judge me but let me know what you think.
