DISNEYLAND PARIS

My job has some serious perks but I think this has to be the biggest and best so far…

After a few weeks of talks and numerous emails it was decided that I would take two fashion press ladies (on behalf of schuh) to Disneyland Paris for the European Disney and Vans launch. I’m not one to argue so of course I jumped at the opportunity and was secretly screaming with joy when it was all official and Eurostar tickets were booked.

The Vans team went BIG, HUGE, MASSIVE for the launch of this exciting Disney and Vans collaboration with skate shoes, apparel and accessories. As schuh are one of the largest brand partners for this collection naturally we were involved too.

I was a Eurostar virgin until Wednesday 3rd June but I have to say it wasn’t that bad. It’s a lot easier than flying as St Pancras Station is really central and there isn’t loads of waiting around before boarding. It only took a few hours and before I knew it we were coming out of the tunnel in France.

We arrived at Paris Gare du Nord station to meet our driver holding a Disney and Vans sign. He took us to the Dream Castle hotel which is 10 minutes away from the Disneyland resort. I have to say I was a little underwhelmed by the hotel because I thought it would be super Disney-fied (I’m making that a word) and really magical but it was more like a medieval theme function space. The rooms were nice and clean and to be fair I hardly spent any time there so it’s all good.

As you can imagine we were really hungry after a morning of travelling so we grabbed a quick bite to eat in the bar at the hotel before heading off on the shuttle bus to Disneyland!  So I really had no idea how big a deal this trip actually was, there was like 60 people from all over Europe including representatives from the Vans European offices in France, Italy, Sweden etc and bloggers, influencers, models and fashion people. I was honoured to be invited to go.

When we arrived at the park we were split into groups of 10 and allocated a VIP Disneyland tour guide. I can tell you now, I don’t know how I will ever go to another theme park again and just be basic. I mean our tour guide, Tom, stayed with us the whole time, took us to the best attractions and we even queue jumped the queue jump line, LEVELS!!!  We managed to get on so many rides including Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Rock and Roller Coaster. It’s amazing how much you can do when you don’t have to queue.

Then it was time for the main purpose of the trip, our exclusive preview of the Disney and Vans collection. But obviously Vans had to keep the levels up so we were joined by Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck. We already had a VIP photo call with the main man Mickey Mouse earlier in the day. Along with the famous Disney characters, glasses of champagne and the new collection we were serenaded by a quartet, singing classic Disney movie songs. I swear I had to ask myself if this was happening more than once.

By now we had done all the attractions, met all the best Disney characters so of course food had to be  next on the agenda. But this wasn’t just any standard dinner. The Disney team had opened the Walt Disney Studios just for us and they rolled out the red carpet, I’m not even joking, they put down a red carpet at the Restaurant Les Stars. I enjoyed a 3 course dinner, salmon and veg was the main and the singers were back to take requests and sing to us over dinner.

I can’t lie I was actually so excited for the final part of the day I thought I would burst… We had the best VIP, FRONT ROW, RESERVED, NO KIDS ALLOWED spot for the entire 60 strong group at the Dream show FIREWORKS display. I love fireworks so much so that all I want at my wedding is a photo booth situation and fireworks!

I can’t even explain how magical and amazing this show was. They incorporated so many Disney movies and well known characters in a display that was simply spectacular. I have never seen anything like it, it just gave me EVERYTHING while RENEWING MY LIFE and GIVING ME LIFE that doesn’t even make sense but I need you to understand how remarkable it was.

After all the excitement and my legs aching from all the walking it was back on the shuttle bus to the hotel. I was still so excited so I couldn’t even sleep straight away.  Disneyland really is the place where dreams come true.

Massive thanks to the schuh brand marketing team for sending the invite my way and a huge shout out and utmost respect for the Vans team for making this the best working day of my life, thank you!

You can get involved in the Disney and Vans collection at schuh.

P.S I bought the grey Mickey Mouse slipons from schuh, I love them.
