The clever people over at Topshop Oxford Circus had the genius idea to team up with the photography whizz kids at Olympus Pen to create a summer school. The Topshop summer school consists of a series of photography master classes covering everything from getting the best skyline shot to capturing street style.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I have been all over the place the last few weeks and there is still more to come so unfortunately I could only attend one of the classes. The rest of the summer school looks pretty cool and it runs weekly until June so get involved.

I paid £5, (through eventbrite) which was refunded on the day with a Topshop voucher, to secure my place and I turned up on Thursday afternoon. I had no idea what to expect but I was greeted by the friendly staff from Olympus Pen and nine other students. We were split up into two groups and my group went off with Cleveland, the photographer and Clare from Olympus. We were given a brief introduction to using Olympus Pen cameras, using the filters and the lenses etc.

Cleveland set us the task of capturing people on the street, old versus new in the same shot, something abstract and circles or triangles. He showed us some of his favourite spots on Oxford Street for people watching and snapping and he introduced us the beauty of architecture photography.

This master class was a great insight into using filters, making the most of what’s around me and using angles. Now when I’m out and about I will be trying harder to get that shot so look out. You can keep up with the Topshop summer school on social media by searching the hashtag #TOPSHOPXOlympusPen

The Olympus Pen cameras are awesome because they are so light, stylish and the filters are so professional, just look at my photographs! This camera is definitely top of my wish list as I’m a blogger now and good photography is very important.

Thanks for a lovely afternoon Olympus Pen and Topshop
